Reality...

The state of being able to create and staying truthful is what the art of acting has been pursuing and deepening its efforts for centuries. It starts with the actor's courage to be truthful to herself/himself. It continues its existence by growing with a whole new awareness. Society wants the actor to follow the established order, but the actor must strive to be real in life and in art. Because this is the most important layer of the raw material that feeds the actor.

Merve Taşkan

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Acting at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory, Merve Taşkan completed her masters in Directing as top of her class at New School University – Actors Studio Drama School in New York. She found the opportunity to learn the distinct traits of directing from professionals like Stuart Vaughan, Barbara Poitier, Andreas Monalikakis, Al Pacino and Ellen Burstyn. After she graduated, being monitored for several months by the artistic committee of Lee Strasberg (the founder of Actors Studio) Theater and Film Institute, during her trial classes, she was granted as the youngest foreign teacher.  At the same time, she started giving lessons in the New York University Tisch, a period lasting for 4 years. She worked in writers and directors’ workshops in Actors Studio and solely with writers in the creation, development and performance stages of new plays. Some of these plays participated in festivals in USA and Europe. Moving back to her home country, Merve opened up her own studio in Istanbul in 2010. Currently she is coaching lead actors of the TV serial, theater and film industry. She is coaching directors. She is selecting actors for group classes and teaching group classes, also she is also preparing new actors to undergrad and masters programs in foreign universities.
