The impact of educational and cultural structures on the urbanization process of Galata and Beyoğlu is indisputable. Beyoğlu, which became a melting pot for intercultural relations starting from the 19th century, still houses many active institutions, even though some have fallen into disuse or been removed from the educational world. Schools not only define a neighborhood but also shape the sense of belonging for generations within the city. Along with Turgay Tuna, a true lover and connoisseur of Istanbul who also studied in these very halls, we will retrace the steps of those schools that still leave a distinct mark on the social and physical landscape of Beyoğlu.
