VELVELE
Velvele, consisting of Merve Salgar and Anıl Eraslan, brings together their own compositions and the Ottoman-Turkish music works they love in a spontaneous performance, without following a predetermined order. The direction of this free form is determined by improvisations shaped in line with the texture of the sound and the possibilities offered by the moment. Tanbur player and improviser Merve Salgar, who lives in France, develops an original musical language that expands traditional tanbur playing with a contemporary perspective through collaborative projects she conducts with various musicians from both experimental and traditional scenes. Cellist and improviser Anıl Eraslan, who creates between Berlin, Strasbourg, and İstanbul, continues his work with ensembles and musicians from all around the world across a wide spectrum extending from traditional music to jazz and experimental music. VELVELE will take the stage at All Saints Moda Church on September 30 as part of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival.
