Yasmine Hamdan
With her distinctive musical language that skilfully blends her pan-Arab roots with pop, poetic lyrics, electronic music, soul and guitar-driven melodies, Yasmine Hamdan first made her mark on the music scene with the pioneering Beirut indie electro duo Soapkills, which she co-founded with Zeid Hamdan in the late 1990s. After moving to Paris in 2005, she collaborated with Madonna’s producer, Mirwais, on the project Y.A.S., releasing the album Arabology in 2009—a record both elegant and crafted for the clubs. Since then, she has gained international recognition as a singer-songwriter and solo producer, weaving together a rich blend of influences. Having also worked with filmmakers such as Elia Suleiman and Jim Jarmusch, Hamdan released her third album I remember I forget بنسى وبتذكر, centering on her “connection to Lebanon and what has happened to it”, in 2025. Yasmine Hamdan will perform at Zorlu PSM 100% Studio on the evening of October 10 as part of the first-ever collaboration between the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival and Zorlu PSM.
