Yazmin Lacey
Yazmin Lacey's music resonates with intimate moments from her life, turning them into songs that are deeply relatable, authentic, and raw with emotion. Her musical journey began in 2017 with her debut EP Black Moon, released after participating in Gilles Peterson's Future Bubblers series. Following a series of short-form releases, she continued to capture spontaneous, unfiltered moments in her music with the albums Voice Notes in 2023 and Teal Dreams in 2025. Her style defies categorisation, blending influences from her East London upbringing and Caribbean heritage. Continuing her creative output on the axis of R&B, jazz, and pop, the Nottingham-based musician prefers to embrace rawness in her music rather than chasing perfection. She has collaborated with names like Craigie Dodds, J.D. Reid, Melo-Zed, and Dave Okumu throughout her career. Yazmin Lacey will take the stage at Babylon on October 7 as part of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival.
