Akbank Contemporary Artists Award was granted as part of the competition that was co-organized by the Painting and Sculpture Museums Association and Akbank Art to promote developments in the contemporary art and encourage young artists. Of the applications submitted, and considered by the jury, twelve works have been selected and will be presented to the appreciation of art-lovers during the exhibition to be held between 23 May and 31 July.

A constant contributor to development of the Turkish contemporary art scene for over 30 years, Contemporary Artists exhibition once again considered applications submitted by young artists, selecting from among them those to participate in the exhibition, this year based on a new structure. As was the case in previous years, this year's exhibition will prove reflection of the level at which the art in Turkey has reached.

Contemporary Artists exhibition has showcased works from almost all of the artists who are influent in the Turkish art scene and even got the chance to expand internationally, and is serving a dual function: Highlighting the level attained by and precursory signs of the contemporary art, and giving young artists with no means of self-expression a chance to introduce themselves and gain publicity. The 2013 exhibition will prove no exception, maintaining both of these functions.

This year's competition is also marked by the fact that architect Emre Arolat is going to arrange it. Arrangement by Arolat will turn the overall level reflected by the exhibition into an event in itself.
