International Jazz Festival of Akbank, which has become a tradition, is five years old.
Masters of Jazz will again be coming together at Sabanci Center, M.S.U. Painting and Sculpture Museum, and Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall for jazz fans between the dates of 4 - 14 October.
Sheila Jordan Quartet, Alex Von Schlippenbach, Matthew Shipp & William Parker, Fred Hopkins & Diedre Murray, Asia Minor, Hasan Cihat Orter, John Zorn "Masada", John Abercrombie Organ Trio, Balanescu Quartet, Eddie Palmieri Septet, Henry Threadgill "Very Very Circus Plus", and Anthony Braxton Sextet will be participating in Akbank 5th International Jazz Festival with the concerts they will be giving this year.
Sheila Jordan, a true master of improvisation, will be giving the opening concert with her quartet. Besides the concerts of famous jazz masters, there will also be innovations this year; each as attention grabbing as the next! While the concerts continue, Cem Akkan's Jazz Photographs will be exhibited, video films will be shown, none of which you would want to miss, and seminars with the participation of jazz masters will be held at Aksanat. In addition, entire Aksanat activities will be realized free of charge!
