"Creative Reuse in Filmmaking"
Every film starts with a fundamental question: What to make, and what to make it from?
When deciding how to tell our story, the first thing that usually comes to mind is shooting new footage. More cameras, larger crews, new journeys, and countless equipment… Yet every production brings with it, alongside its visible budget, a significant consumption of resources and an environmental cost.
Do we really have to produce anew for every film?
Setting out from this question, the "Creative Reuse in Filmmaking" program proposes looking at film production from a different perspective. There is a rich visual memory already recorded in archives, waiting to be rediscovered and reinterpreted. Looking at this footage with fresh eyes and turning it into part of new narratives not only reduces production resources and a film's ecological footprint, but also opens up new possibilities for creative storytelling.
Carried out in collaboration with EkoFilm: Sustainable Production Platform and Ffilm School, and supported by the British Council's Connections Through Culture program, the 2-day program will take place hosted by Akbank Sanat.
The program, which will begin on November 6, 2026, with the screening of the short film that has been produced within the scope of the project, will bring film crews together on November 7, 2026, hosted by Akbank Sanat, around the topics of reuse, resource management, and sustainable film production.
