We are presenting Akbank Short Film Festival for the 8th time. We can say that, we are witnessing the new dynamism of the cinema in Turkey, and new talents entering the sector. The program of the festival, which has become a responsibility, was diligently prepared this year, as well.
The "Short to Feature" section of the festival features Ümit Ünal, the master director. Another master Can Dündar will share his experiences with movie lovers in the "Documentary Film" section. Sebastian Wiegärtner will be hosted in "Experiences". The young director of photography, originally from Germany will provide a depth to the festival with his workshop "Shooting with HD-DSLR" conducted in various parts of the world and his movies, will be shown in the festival.
We aimed at offering a wide anthology in the "International Section" by inviting the major short films from festivals around the world. Animations from different regions of the world and Turkey are among the most appreciated parts of the festival. The films by Rüya Arzu Köksal, Aysim Türkmen, Özgür Candan, and festival director Selim Evci will be shown in the Festival. Experienced people will be sharing their experiences with short film fans through interviews and Workshops. The festival will also be featuring important names including Cahit Berkay, Derya Alabora, Selim Demirdelen, Murat Ertel, Işıl Özgentürk, and Akasya Asıltürkmen.
"Festival Shorts", the exciting contest to determine the best short films of the year will be waiting for cinema lovers. All screenings and events will be held at Akbank Sanat, free of charge. We would like to thank the directors who submitted their films to Akbank Short Film Festival, the festival judges, and to other valuable people, who add value to the festival with their attendance.
