Mithat Şen's "Breath" series, which creates space within space, clearly demonstrates the artist's systematic approach in terms of form and material. The multilayered relief, which comes together by adding squares to each other and continuing to interact in four directions, is constructed based on the fragmentation and repetition of the artist's body schema. With "Breath," Mithat Şen's alphabet pieces form the body schema sometimes in whole, sometimes with interruptions; fullness and emptiness within square forms progress rhythmically without interruption. Within the limitless potential of the system established by the artist, the structure that comes together with repetition and variation, creating a symphony, continues sometimes by subtracting, sometimes by layering, showing the body schema as a whole and diversifying the mode of presentation with reductions and shifts. "Breath" presents time and space, continuity and simultaneity within the framework of nature's principle of repetition and variation.
