Celebrating its fifth anniversary as the first and only film festival dedicated to early cinema in Turkey, International Istanbul Silent Cinema Days will meet the audience on December 5th-9th in Akbank Sanat Center, French Cultural Center, Bomontiada ALT and Kadikoy Cinema. The festival is organized by Kino Istanbul in collaboration with Cineteca di Bologna and Eye Filmmuseum; and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Goethe Institute, French Cultural Center, Consulate General of Republic of Poland, Consulate General of Switzerland, Cinemateque Française, Filmoteka Narodowa and Danish Film Institute. This year, the festival holds a film screening for the first time with the partnership of Sinematek/Sinemaevi that will be opened next year. The festival introduces the theme of “technology”, while birth of cinema as a technological innovation stands as the main topic along with issues such as restoration, preservation and digitization in film industry today. As usual all films will be screened in their latest restored versions and accompanied by live music performances. Tickets are available at the venue during the festival or through Biletix.com.
