Akbank Short Film Festival is delighted to celebrate its 10th year anniversary. The festival still aims to bring the the best short films of the year to the audience, as well as creating a short film platform.
In the first section of the festival which is called "From Short to Feature" you will meet the successful director Mehmet Eryılmaz. In the "Documentary" section we bring Derviş Zaim, an experienced director. Furthermore, Hayet Benkara, film advisor in France and USA, will be the guest in the section "Experiences".
This year you can meet some very interesting people Çiçek Kahraman, Bora Gökşingöl, Theron Patterson, Kerem Akça, Burçak Evren, Engin Ertan, Zeynep Özbatur Atakan, Enis Köstepen, Savaş Ünsal, Nimet Atasoy, Başar Dengiz, Bahar Kerimoğlu and more. In the workshops, with "Acting Workshop" acting coach Ümit Çırak, with "Cinematography Workshop" director of photography Feza Çaldıran, with "Scenario Workshop" Burak Göral, and with "Title Sequence Workshop" Bahcesehir University lecturer Assist. Prof. Güven Çatak will be our guests.
The most exciting part of the festival is again the competitions which will designate the best films of the year. All the screenings and activities are going to be free of charge and take place in Akbank Art Center.
We want to thank all the directors who submitted their films to Akbank Short Film Festival, the festival judges, and to other precious people who add value to the festival with their attendance.
SECTIONS
Documentary Cinema
This year's guest in the "Documentary" section is Derviş Zaim. Along with the screening of the movie "Parallel Trips" which he directed together with Panicos Chrysanthou, he will share his experiences in a conferen
Animation Shorts
In the "Animation Shorts" section, which was added into the competition categories last year, 11 films from Turkey will compete for "The Best Animated Movie" award. In the same section, great examples of animated movies from Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Estonia, Colombia, France and USA will be brought to the audience.
Experiences
In the "Experiences" section, Hayet Benkara, film advisor in the US and France, will be our guest. She has worked in important positions in Cannes, Rotterdam, Berlin, Toronto and Dubai Film Festivals. Three movies of which she played a role as the advisor will be shown in this section and also she will share her interesting experiences with the audience in an interview.
Experimental Shorts
In the "Experimental Shorts" section, 5 selected films from Turkey are in the program.
Festival Shorts
230 films were submitted for the competitive section of the festival this year. After the preselection, 15 fictions and 10 documentaries are included in the "Festival Shorts" section. The films are shown with both English and Turkish subtitles.
From Short to Feature
The "From Short to Feature" section of the festival will host the director Mehmet Eryılmaz. Eryılmaz, who has been in national and international festivals with his films and also as a juryman, will be our guest with his films "A Fairground Attraction", "I Love Therefore I Am" (in which Nuri Bilge Ceylan was the leading actor) and "Silent". In order to show how short films can make a difference, Eryılmaz will be in the festival with some of his public service broadcasting films and a conference session.
Special Screening
This year in the "Special Screenings" section, awarded documentaries and fictions from the first year of the Akbank Short Film Festival, and Mehmet Güleryüz's "The Voice of The Voiceless: An Orhan Kemal Documentary" will be shown.
International Section
This year, the selection including films from Japan, Iran, Spain, Finland, Lebanon, India, France, Iceland, Australia, USA and Poland, will be brought to the film enthusiasts. Short films, which were shown in reputable festivals around the world like Cannes, Venice, Rotterdam, Clermot Ferrand, will be shown in the "International Section".
