Akbank Sanat Literature Talks - Do Humans Change?
“Collective Sharing and Workshop”
Prepared and presented by: Didem Bayındır & Başak Gürbüz
Time: 14.00 - 18.00
Throughout our series "Does a Person Change?", we revisited six themes through different periods and canonical texts of literature. In this collective workshop and sharing session, we will seek answers to questions such as: whether human nature has really changed over these thousands of years; what the transformation from myth to novel tells us about the development of civilisation; why the novel (and indeed literature itself) is one of the most powerful narrative forms of the modern world; how social transformations shape literature and how literature transforms society in turn; why the modern individual centres loneliness, alienation, and identity crisis; and finally, whether postmodernism is truly an aesthetic and intellectual crisis, or a new form of liberation.
