Akbank Sanat Literature Talks - Do Humans Change?
“Postmodernism and the Collapse of Reality”
Prepared and presented by: Didem Bayındır & Başak Gürbüz
Time: 18.00 - 19.30
Our literary talks will conclude (for now!) with contemporary literature, in which the very concept of reality is called into question. Through masterpieces such as The Name of the Rose which brings together history, philosophy, and detective fiction to show how texts produce one another — and One Hundred Years of Solitude, which demonstrates through magical realism that history, memory, and identity can be rewritten, we will make our way towards today's contemporary literature. Along this path, we can approach postmodernism both as a literary movement and as a new way of thinking developed around truth, history, and narrative.
